Maruti Suzuki unveils all-New S-Cross

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Thursday unveiled the new version of its S-Cross model.

The new model will replace the S-Cross launched in August 2015 as the first premium offering from the company’s retail channel NEXA. The car will be available across the country in the next couple of days.

“When we say it’s an ‘all-new’ S-Cross, we really mean it... looks, technology, everything is new… Along with our suppliers, we have invested over ₹100 crore towards development of the new S-Cross,” Maruti Suzuki senior executive director, marketing and sales, R.S. Kalsi said.

Mr. Kalsi added that the company has sold 53,000 units of the previous S-Cross in 2 years in India. Besides, Maruti Suzuki has exported 4,600 units of the model.

The new S-Cross comes with a 1.3 litre diesel engine (DDiS 200) with Smart Hybrid technology. This is the third model in the company’s portfolio with this technology, after Ciaz and Ertiga. There will be no petrol engine variant of the new S-Cross

“Right now, in this segment, 80% vehicles sold are diesel vehicles because it gives good torque. We also have Vitarra Brezza which is only diesel and it is very popular,” Mr Kalsi said.

With the Smart Hybrid the company claims to have brought down emissions in the car to as low as 105.5 gm/km, compared to around 111 gm/km in previous S-Cross. The new car comes with features such as idle-stop-start, torque assist, brake energy regeneration system.

Talking about Nexa, Mr. Kalsi said, “Nexa is the brightest star in Maruti’s transformation. If Nexa was a company, it would be the third largest automaker in the country.”

The big advantage of the iPhone 8 Plus having a glass back is that it can be charged wirelessly.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't supply a wireless charging pad in the box, so if you want to take advantage of this feature, you'll have to buy one separately.

Apple is currently working on its own wireless charging accessory called AirPower, which will be capable of charging up to three devices simultaneously, and is expected to launch in 2018.

Until then it recommends buying a third-party charging pad such as the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad or the Mophie Wireless Charging Base.

While there's something satisfying about being able to lay your iPhone on top of a charging pad rather than fiddling around with wires, I'm not convinced it saves all that much time.

Charging the iPhone 8 Plus wirelessly also takes a lot longer than plugging it in - although Apple is planning to release an iOS update in the coming months that will reduce this time significantly.

But as more shops and cafes start offering wireless charging facilities - in the same way they offer WiFi today - this is likely to become a much more useful feature.

Design

With the iPhone 8 Plus, Apple has moved away from the brushed aluminium design that has proved so popular over the last five years and returned to its roots, with a new all-glass enclosure.

This isn't the first time Apple has used glass in its i Phones - the iPhone 4 and 4s had glass front and back panels - but these phones were plagued by durability issues, with many customers claiming their phones cracked too easily when dropped .

Time will tell whether it's as durable as Apple claims, but there's no doubt that it looks and feels great, with the subtly curved edges of the glass blending seamlessly into the aluminium band around the edge.

The iPhone 8 Plus comes in three colours - space grey, silver, and "gold". The new gold shade has a slightly pink tinge - sitting somewhere between the old gold and rose gold colour options, although it looks a lot paler through the glass.

Also, an added incentive for the hosts is that they are on a 3-match win-streak against Australia, their joint-longest against this team. They won their last match of the 2016 bilateral 5-match ODI series at Sydney in addition to the two matches that they won in this series.

India have managed three back-to-back victories on the trot against Australia (1994/95: In the Austral-Asia Cup, Singer World Series & New Zealand Centenary Tournament ; 1996 & 1998: Titan Cup and two matches of the Pepsi Triangular Series in Sharjah ; 2016 & 2017 : One in Australia and two in India). Thus, if they win, it will be India’s longest win-streak against Australia.

Part records suggest that India will be confident of clinching a win in Indore as the hosts have never lost an ODI playing at this venue (Played: 4, Won: 4). While as for the visitors, they will be playing their first match at this venue and are unfamiliar with the conditions.

This mean, if you don't like Indian Rupee and ask for repayment,Reserve Bank of India will pay you back an equal value of gold.(Actually there may be minor differences in the Transaction dealing rules, but for easy comprehension I am explaining this)

Let us see an example. Indian petroleum minister goes to Middle East country to purchase petrol, the Middle East petrol bunk people will say that liter petrol is one Dollar.
But Indians won't have dollars. They have Indian Rupees. So what to do now? So That Indian Minister will ask America to give Dollars. American Federal Reserve will take a white paper , print Dollars on it and give it to the Indian Minister. Like this we get dollars , pay it to petrol bunks and buy petrol.

But there is a fraud here. If you change your mind and want to give back the Dollars to America we can't demand them to pay Gold in return for the Dollars. They will say " Have we promised to return something back to you? Haven't you checked the Dollar ? We clearly printed on the Dollar that it is Debt"
So, Americans don't need any Gold with them to print Dollars. They will print Dollars on white papers as they like.

But what will Americans give to the Middle East countries for selling petrol in Dollars only?

Middle East kings pay rent to America for protecting their kings and heirs. Similarly they are still paying back the Debt to America for constructing Roads and Buildings in their countries. This is the value of American Dollar. That is why Many say some day the Dollar will be destroyed.

At present the problem of India is the result of buying those American Dollars. American white papers are equal to Indian Gold. So if we reduce the consumption of petrol and cars, Dollar will come down

Have you heard about the Yonaguni Monument?

Yonaguni Monument is a large underwater rock formation situated off the coastline of Yonaguni, which is situated in the southernmost part of Ruyuku Islands in Japan. In 1986 this monument was discovered by the bunch of sea divers looking for popular Hammerhead sharks in the area.


 
 They found striking rock formations that had carved steps, massive platforms and stone pillars about 25 metres below the sea level. There was a large pyramid structure that was 90 feet high and 600 feet wide. The structure also had different levels of stone blocks which have been assumed as roads. There was also a triangular formation found within the structure which was later named as “the Turtle” for its unique shape.

Now the question is: Is the monument a natural formation, or is it man-made?

இந்த பட்டியலில் இந்தியாவின் பஞ்சாப் மாநிலம் மொஹாலியை சேர்ந்த பதினோராம் வகுப்பு பயிலும் மாணவி சிரிஷ்டி ஆஸ்தனா இடம் பெற்றுள்ளார். வரும் செப்டம்பர் மாதம் 23-ம்தேதி அமெரிக்காவில் நடைபெறும் இறுதி சுற்றில் விஞ்ஞானிகள் முன்னிலையில் தனது அறிவியல் திட்டப்பணியை அவர் விளக்க உள்ளார்.

இந்த போட்டியில் வெல்பவருக்கு, 50 ஆயிரம் அமெரிக்க டாலர் பரிசாக வழங்கப்பட உள்ளது. இதுமட்டுமல்லாது, நேஷனல் ஜியோகிராபிக் குழுவினருடன் கேலாபாகஸ் தீவுகளுக்கு 10 நாள் சுற்றுப் பயணம் மேற்கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பும் அளிக்கப்படும் என்று தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

N Shiva Kumar from Bangalore wouldn't have thought, even in his wildest dreams, that one day his inspirational tale would feature in the very newspapers that he has been selling since Class 6. But dreams do come true, albeit with a lot of hard work and determination. The newspaper-boy-t­urned-vendor has gained admission in the prestigious business school, IIM-Calcutta after cracking CAT last year.

 
Shiva, 23, a computer science student of Bangalore Institute of Technology, is the son of an illiterate mother and a father who was a truck driver. He started working as a newspaper delivery boy and for his debt-ridden family of four. Speaking about his struggles to TOI, Shiva says, "Every morning people would come home asking my father to return the money he had borrowed. My father had a truck. But there were more liabilities than what he could earn with it. When I was in Class 3 or 4, I sold flowers that my mother strung into garlands by the roadside.

It was only later that I found the job of newspaper boy.," His luck turned around when he requested a customer to fund his school education when he was unable to pay the tution fees, to which he agreed."I was studying in an ICSE school. In Class 9, I was asked not to come to school till I paid the fees. The next day, I approached the first customer I was delivering the paper to, Krishna Veda Vyasa, and requested him to fund me. He hesitated, and said he didn't even know me. I asked him to do a background check, and he found I was the topper there. I requested him to pay one term's fee, but he paid for the entire year. He continued funding me ever since. I owe it all to him," he said.

He soon found an opportunity to be a vendor and started his own agency when in Class 10.His work continued even when he got admission in an engineering college."It was hard work. I had to get up at 4am every day, deliver the papers and head to school. I had to skip breakfast to be on time for college, but would still be late. But now his life is set to change."Shiva is taking an education loan to fund his IIM course. So what does he want to do after graduating from IIM-C?"After my family stabilizes, I want to start a charitable institution, Educate India, by which I can help the underprivileged­ gain some education. I could achieve this because someone helped me. In turn, I want to help at least 10 people," he said.

தென்கிழக்காசியாவின் மிகப்பெரிய நூலமாக திகழ்ந்த யாழ்ப்பாணம் பொது நூலகம் எரிக்கப்பட்டு இன்றுடன் 32 வருடங்கள் நிறைவடைகின்றன. யாழ்ப்பாணம் பொது நூலகம் 1981 ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 31 ஆம் திகதி நள்ளிரவுக்கு பின்னர் சிறிலங்கா அரசின் துணையுடன் சிறிலங்கா படைகளால் எரித்து சாம்பலாக்கப்பட்டது. இது 20ம் நூற்றாண்டின் இன, நூலழிப்புகளில் ஒரு மிகப்பெரும் வன்முறையாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. இவ்வழிப்பு நேர்ந்த காலகட்டத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாணப் பொது நூலகம் கிட்டத்தட்ட 97,000 அரிய நூல்களுடன் தென்கிழக்காசியாவிலேயே மிகப்பெரிய நூலகமாகத் திகழ்ந்தது.

யாழ் நூலகம் 1933 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இருந்து கட்டியெழுப்பப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளது. முதலில் சிலரது தனிப்பட்ட சேகரிப்புகளுடன் நூலகம் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டு, மிக விரைவில் உள்ளூர் தமிழ் மக்களின் ஆதரவுடன் ஒரு முழு நூலகமானது.

யாழ்ப்பாணத்தின் பல இடங்களிலும் தனிப்பட்டவர்களிடம் இருந்து வந்த பல நூல்கள், குறிப்பாக நூற்றாண்டுகள் பழமையான ஓலைச்சுவடிகள் 1800களில் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட பல பத்திரிகைகளின் மூலப் பிரதிகள் போன்றவை இந்நூல்நிலையத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன. நூலகத்தின் முதலாவது கட்டடம் 1959 ஆம் ஆண்டு திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டது. 1936க்குப் பின்னர், நூலகம் யாழ் நகரசபையிடம் கையளிக்கப்பட்டு, யாழ்ப்பாணக் கோட்டைக்கு அருகே, புதிதாகக் கட்டப்பட்ட நகர மண்டபத்துக்கு அண்மையிலுள்ள இடமொன்றுக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது.

யாழ்ப்பாண மாநகரசபை அந்தஸ்துக்குத் தரமுயர்த்தப்பட்டுப் புதிய சபை பதவியேற்றபின், இந்த நூலகத்துக்கான புதிய கட்டிடமொன்றைக்கட்டும் முயற்சிகள் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டன. பல்வேறு வழிகள் மூலம் இதற்கான நிதியைத் திரட்ட எடுத்த முயற்சிகள் பெரு வெற்றிபெற்றதாகச் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. நிறுவனத்துக்கான அடிப்படைகளைத் தீர்மானித்து வழிநடத்தும் நோக்கில், அக்காலத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாணத்திலிருந்த பல கல்வியாளர்களையும் பிரமுகர்களையும் உள்ளடக்கிய குழுவொன்று 1953 ஆம் ஆண்டில் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. இக்குழு இது தொடர்பில் இந்திய நிபுணர்களினதும் உதவிகளைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டது. இதற்கான கட்டிடத்தை வடிமைக்கும் பணியும் இந்தியாவின் தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த கட்டிடக்கலைஞர் நரசிம்மனிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. திராவிடக் கட்டிடக்கலைப் பாணியைத் தழுவி இரண்டு தளங்கள் கொண்ட அழகிய கட்டிடமொன்று வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டது.

2. அப்பா, அம்மா இரண்டு பேரும் வேலை சொல்வது பல சமயங்களில் கடுப்பாக இருக்கும். ஒருமாறுதலுக்கு அவர்கள் சொல்வதைச் செய்து பாருங்கள். அவர்கள் கேட்பது உங்களால் செய்யக் கூடியதாகவே இருக்கும். பொடிநடையாகப் போய் நூறு கிராம் காப்பி பவுடர் (அ) ரேஷன் கார்டு புதுப்பித்தல் இப்படிதான் இருக்கும்.

5. ஐந்து ரூபாய் சம்பாதித்துப் பாருங்கள். சொந்தமாக உங்கள் உழைப்பில், முயற்சியில், யோக்கியமாக, மனச்சாட்சி உறுத்தாமல். அடுத்த முறை அப்பாவிடம் ஆயிரம் ரூபாய்க்கு ஷர்ட், சுடிதார் கேட்கும் முன்.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal celebrates his birthday today.

Mohanlal (born 21 May 1960), is an Indian film actor and producer best known for his work in Malayalam films. He was born in Pathanamthitta in south Kerala to Vishwananthan Nair and Santhakumary. He was raised in Mudavanmugal in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, which was his maternal house. He now lives with his family in Thevara, ( in Kochi, Kerala). He married Suchitra, daughter of Tamil film producer K. Balaji on 28 April 1988. They have two children – Pranav and Vismaya.

Mohanlal has acted in over 300 Malayalam films and produced or co-produced over 35 films. His acting credits also include some Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada films. He has acted in 4 professional plays. He has also sung songs, most of them for the films he acted in.

Mohanlal's first non-Malayalam movie was the Tamil film "Iruvar"(1997), directed by Mani Ratnam. His first Hindi film was "Company"(2002) directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

In 2001, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri.

He has won four Indian National Film Awards — two Best Actor Awards, one Special Jury Award for acting, and one Award for Best Film as producer along with six Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actor.

He was elected as most popular Keralite in a 2006 online poll conducted by CNN-IBN on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kerala's formation.

In 2009, he became the first actor to be given the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army of India.

He was also conferred an honorary Black Belt of Taekwondo by World Taekwondo Headquarters in Kukiwon by South Korean Government. He was the third Indian citizen to achieve this feat.

18-year-old Indian-American girl develops device to Charge Cell Phones in Seconds, wins Young Scientist Award.

Eesha Khare, from Saratoga, California, is a co-winner of this year’s Young Scientist Award sponsored by Intel. The award comes with a $50,000 cash prize. She won the award for her battery-sized supercapacitor design which allows for recharging in just a few seconds. The award was part of Intel’s International Science and Engineering Fair. Khare’s supercapacitor is meant to serve as a replacement for a small battery, specifically those used in cell phones. She says the inspiration for her design came out of frustration from constantly finding her cell phone battery dead.

The supercapacitor she developed is small enough to fit inside a standard cell phone battery housing, and can be fully charged in just 20 to 30 seconds. As if that weren’t enough, it also has a much longer useful life offering 10,000 charge/recharge cycles instead of the 1,000 available now for batteries. The supercapacitor is based on nanochemistry, which Khare told the crowd during her acceptance speech is her main area of scientific interest. She plans to continue her research on the supercapacitor with the ultimate goal of replacing her cell phone battery. She noted that such a supercapacitor would also be useful for powering a wide variety of other devices, adding that it’s also flexible. It could be used to power devices embedded in clothes, she suggested, or as part of roll-top electronic devices.

Supreme Court ultimatum to Tamil Nadu: Fix auto fares by July 6

The Supreme Court has given the Tamil Nadu government time till July 6 to fix a fare structure for autorickshaws, implement it and file a compliance report before the court.

The 'final' opportunity, extending the ultimatum by two more months, was given by a bench comprising Justice R M Lodha and Justice Kurian Joseph, on a petition filed by Chennai-based advocate S V Ramamurthy, on May 6.

 

 While acceding to the pleas of Tamil Nadu's additional advocate general for more time to frame a fare structure and implement it, the bench had said: "In the interest of justice, we are inclined to grant further time of two months to Tamil Nadu to finally consider fixing of new fares for autorickshaws." Holding the chief secretary accountable for the compliance of the order, the judges further said: "The chief secretary of Tamil Nadu shall file an affidavit that the order dated December 3, 2012 has been complied with." However, the order was not implemented till May 6, when the present order was passed.

"I produced the front page of The Times of India dated September 4 (the day TOI launched its campaign to bring back the auto rickshaw meter) to highlight the present day position of autorickshaw fares in Tamil Nadu," Ramamurthy said.

However,these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

 
 Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
